Community leaders with capacity building knowledge should apply to serve as Long Term Community Recovery Specialists – Disaster Assistance Employees within the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS has immediate vacancies for temporary, intermittent positions in the leadership track in community planning, economic development, infrastructure planning, and health and social services.

The mission of Long Term Community Recovery (LTCR) is to promote successful long-term recoveries for communities suffering extra ordinary damages after a major disaster. LTCR helps communities build back safer, stronger, and better. It does so by working to identify potential recovery resources and funding and to provide technical assistance and planning. Personnel must have the experience, training, and judgment to organize, coordinate, manage and direct the setup of LTCR field operations.
